Birchwood's 2020

Located on the border between Alberta and Saskatchewan, Empress has been a gathering place long before it got its name. Located on the Red Deer and South Saskatchewan Rivers, it was a natural place for Native tribes following the buffalo to spend the winter. In the early 1800's, it became a fur trading post, then, in 1914, the CPR station was built. The village was named Empress after Queen Victoria, who was also Empress of India. The Empress chair adds a touch of elegance in a small space, with its stylish wood base and button tufted back cushion.
