Monarch

Description

The sofa and Monarch, the southern Alberta hamlet are a picture of two seemingly contrasting concepts. The hamlet is 100 houses laid out on generous lots by the CPR in 1908. The sofa is long and spacious offering generous seating, an open-cushioned back and wrapped in continuous welting. It’s as deep as the hamlet is small. Look more closely, however, and you’ll see a resemblance in the tall, metal leg that floats the sofa above the floor and the hamlet’s royal blue water tower rising above the cottonwoods – it’s the showpiece of the town.
